From Starkville Mississippi to Cergy France

15 Février, 2011… This is how we do

So, my 9 day trip begins tomorrow. I will be going from Paris to Prague. Prague to Amsterdam. Amsterdam to Barcelona. Barcelona back to Paris. I’m so excited! I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep tonight. But before I go I had to do laundry. Now, here at my fine apartment, Les Chenes d’Or, they have washing machines. Note the ‘s’ for plural. For the entire apartment building of 4 floors they have 2 washing machines to do laundry and 1 dryer. Okay. Not so bad, right? Well it’s 3 Euros to do one load of washing and 1 Euro to dry your clothes, but for only 18 minutes. For me, I have to do 2 loads of laundry and I definitely need more than 18 minutes of drying time. That’s a total of 7 Euros so far and my clothes are still damp at this price. And at the current exchange rate that’s $9.44. Back at MSU I could do laundry for 3 to 4 US Dollars. How is the Euro stronger than our American currency??? I dunno… Anyway, this is how I dry my clothes.

(Taut Line Hitch. I always knew my scout knots would come in handy one day.)

And from now on I am literally going to wash my clothes in the sink. They’re crazy if they expect me to pay over 15 US Dollars to wash and completely dry my clothes that will last me only a week. On a positive note, TOMORROW PRAGUE!
